Counselling: Anne focuses on issues of: Change inner child work to inner child therapy EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Method -- Treatment and Transformation EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprogramming. EMDR is a powerful therapy used in the treatment of serious psychological conditions, documented to effectively treat complex issues of low self-esteem, depression, phobias, past traumas and long-standing grief within several sessions. It is helpful to individuals who feel stuck in negative reactions and behaviours. EMDR has been cited as the most important method to emerge in psychotherapy in decades. As a technique for processing traumatic memories, EMDR has a high level of success in a relatively brief number of sessions. Studies have shown that about 90% of the people being treated have an effective recovery, which is long lasting. The method’s processing, not entirely understood, integrates the left and right brain hemispheres, so that “frozen” information can be experienced and released, stabilizing the biochemical balance of the brain’s physical information system. In the processing, EMDR allows individuals to see solutions within themselves, which is meaningful to people who have experienced victimization and abuse. The EMDR method is capable of a rapid desensitization of traumatic and difficult, reoccurring memories with a significant reduction of the distressing symptoms and a positive restructuring of the old belief system. Anne has been working with EMDR for over ten years and has found it to be a valuable tool for most individuals who are on a healing path. Inner Child Therapy When we enter adolescence, we may see the world through our friends’ and social group’s perspective and some of us may act out defiantly, rebelliously, and get into more friction with authority figures. At this stage, we are also taking in and trying on more information about ourselves, other people and the community. As adults we may not realize that these younger voices are still alive and active, and can come out in our family interaction or the workplace, in very inappropriate ways. Perhaps we may feel like a child at work or with certain people. Perhaps we get aggressive and angry when it isn’t appropriate: road rage, impatience, verbal abuse and physical abuse. These are not adult behaviours. They are connected to our story, our expectations and beliefs that we have carried for years. There are other inner voices as well: the critical parent, the nurturing parent and the creative, magical child. In learning how to identify the individual voices and understand their issues and behaviours, we can learn to use a more adult voice, the manager voice that brings more balance and stability to our lives. Much of the work in Inner Child Therapy is experiential, working at an emotional level. Anne uses a variety of techniques capable of permeating our social mask and uncovering hurts and blocks so that we may live our lives as the person we want to be, choosing a loving connection with our cherished relationships and finding satisfaction interacting in the workplace. Counselling can create positive change in the quality of each day, improving your confidence, your satisfaction in interpersonal relationships and establishing a higher level of personal productivity and life resiliency.
