Greetings,
September is upon us and for many of us, it is also a time of inspiration, renewal and gratitude for the bountiful harvesting of the seeds planted earlier. The same is true for us, human beings. When we plant the seeds of personal and spiritual growth and we care for them through commitment, we reap the benefits and we extend these benefits to all around us. The key is commitment and action.
Enjoy!

From Inspiration to Action: Moving Beyond words
by Elizabeth Skronski
|
If you watched Barack Oabama's nomination speech last Thursday night August 28th, you watched history in the making for many obvious reasons. But you also watched an extraordinary display of someone who has an incredible ability to inspire crowds, to make them believe in a dream, to make them believe that they are all capable of achieving their own dreams.
How many times have we listened to someone like Barack Obama? From Anthony Robbins to Wayne Dyer, Deepak Chopra and the Dalai Lama, all these people have the power to bring us to a higher state of consciousness, where for even a short moment, we truly feel we can move mountains and conquer all our fears on the way up. And that's the problem when we listen to these wise beings; because they do have this power, we happily leave the power with them. Once the inspiration is no longer fuelled by someone else, we go back to our normal life, forgetting the dream we have. We simply don't realize that we have the power within us to inspire ourselves and move mountains .
This power is what Andrew Cohen (www.andrewcohen.com) calls the Creative Impulse. This Creative Impulse exists within each one of us. But in order to ignite this impulse, we must sustain the inspiration and be committed beyond any doubt. What do I mean by that?
Let me explain. How many of us buy Dyer's, Chopra's and Tolle's books. How many of us watched "The Secret" or the latest released similar movie. By reading these books and listening to their CD's, we bring up that inspiration again and we feel good about ourselves. Anyone who reads or listens to this kind of books and CD's would probably describe themselves as either spiritual, awakened or really into personal development! In fact, for most of us what we are is really interested in topics of spirituality, in personal development and we love to think we are "aware". But what is our actual spiritual practice, what is our personal development plan?
Sustaining the inspiration and being committed beyond any doubt means that we will put into conscious practice what we read and learn from these wise "gurus", not just talk about it.
Instead of thinking about meditating, we would actually set time aside and we would meditate. Instead of talking about being awakened and aware, we would actually consciously examine every thought we have, every action we take and we would not, under any circumstances blame others, and we would, under every circumstance, examine our actions and thoughts and take responsibility for the consequences. We would really consider our developmental practice, whether spiritual or simply personal, as a major component of our life.
This is easier said than done, I agree. But the satisfaction we gain when we do stick to our commitment to grow as spiritual and human beings can erase any excuses we can come up for not practicing.
When we demonstrate that commitment beyond any doubt on a consistent basis, when our inspiration to develop ourselves as a spiritual and human being, with the interests of the "Whole" in mind, then our Authentic Self truly awakens. The Creative Impulse is ignited and supports us in moving all the mountains and conquering all our fears.
So next time someone inspires you and you feel that you could move mountains, that you could achieve this dream of yours, look deep within yourself. Ask yourself why you feel inspired. Sit in silence, meditate and find the voice of your Authentic Self that will inspire you beyond the words you hear or read. Keep the flame of your Creative Impulse alive by committing to doing something about the inspiration and do it!

"You cannot change anything in your life with intention alone, which can become a watered-down, occasional hope that you'll get to tomorrow. Intention without action is useless."
